ED HALE & THE TRANSCENDENCE is scheduled to appear at this year’s South by South West (SXSW) music festival in Austin, Texas in March – the nation’s largest and longest running independent music festival now in its 20th year. Though the band has performed at Boston’s NEMO and New York’s CMJ music festival, this will be their first appearance at SXSW. With two new albums due out this year, the show could not have come at a better time.  A big congrats to the guys. The band’s venue and time-slot has not been released yet. Check back for more.

TRANSCENDENCE guitarist producing new album by 70’s rock icon Andy Pratt

Cover of the Andy Pratt album from mid-seventiesTRANSCENDENCE guitarist Fernando Perdomo is producing the new album by 70’s rock legend Andy Pratt — tentatively titled The Snake Charmer. Pratt was a FM rock radio mainstay throughout the 70s and 80s — most famous for his 1973 hit “Avenging Annie” which was also recorded by the Who’s Roger Daultrey. Pratt is currently in Perdomo’s studio recording 12 tracks for the new album. Fellow TRANSCENDENCE members Ed Hale and Allan Gabay are also participating by adding background vocals and keyboards. For Perdomo the job has been an absolute dream come true. Says Ed Hale, “There is an excitement here in the air 24 hours a day. Us being younger and less experienced and watching someone of Andy’s talent work is awe-inspiring. His songs are freaking brilliant. We’re just along for the ride, trying to do our best to make the album sound as good as it can, and learning a lot along the way. The guy is a freaking brilliant songwriter. I’m learning a lot from him. We all are.”
